A school, the focus for a new community
This school is in the core of the Cranbrook development and combines with shops, a library and sports hall to form a focus for this new community. The site is sloped, with sports pitches occupying higher ground at the rear of the school on a raised terrace. The valuable sandy spoil that was excavated to form the sports field was used to backfill the district heating mains that serve the Cranbrook development as a whole, including the school. The school provides 12 standard classrooms of 58sqm or 60sqm each, together with a foundation classroom measuring almost 200sqm for nursery and reception classes. Translucent canopies have been provided for outdoor teaching at nursery and KS1.
I am so excited about the prospect of our new school – what a fabulous environment for children to learn in. It was wonderful to be able to share our beautiful school with so many people – we are so proud of it and feel very lucky to have such a wonderful space for our children.
