A long-term masterplanning project with a new sustainable transport hub

We are engaged in a long-term masterplanning project for the University of the West of England. Its focus is to remodel the campus (which includes UWE’s own Centre for Transport and Society), which has expanded by the acquisition of adjacent land formerly owned by Hewlett Packard. At the centre of the masterplan is a new sustainable transport hub, which generates a much stronger arrival experience for students, staff and visitors to the campus.

It also acts as a focus for pedestrian flows around the expanded campus and also has the potential to form a pivotal link with South Gloucestershire Council’s Rapid Transit network.

To demonstrate the logic of the layout of the transport hub we have created a London Underground style map, which has proved a useful tool in promoting the key role that it plays within the UWE.
