State-of-the-art treatment works

This building houses some of the process equipment included in a major new water treatment infrastructure project in Cardiff Bay. By-products of the treatment works include gas which is fed into the national grid, and animal fertiliser.

To reflect the development’s status we maintained a high standard of building design and landscaping around it. Housing the process plant and facilities required careful integration of complex services with the building fabric.

After an in-depth cost-in-use study that looked at maintenance costs in aggressive environmental conditions, the decision was made to clad the buildings in aluminium, either flat panel, profiled or embossed.
