This is such an important sector and we at Stride Treglown are determined to show how architectural design can be used to create the sort of spaces elderly people will enjoy living in, whether this be in age friendly mainstream housing or purpose-built specialist housing.
It is unfortunate that all too often the type of housing provided for our elderly is characterized by rather soul-less double banked corridors of apartments, limited communal space and the like.
We are fully conversant with the ten recommendations and wider goals outlined in the all-party Parliamentary Groups’ HAPPI and HAPPI2 reports. It is perhaps a shame that it took a Parliamentary investigation to highlight the issue and to provide some form of a roadmap towards a more attractive and interesting proposition for our elderly.
We have seen the start of an improvement and a shift in the market so that more and more providers can see the positive benefits of implementing at least some if not all of the HAPPI recommendations.
The Stride Treglown team have experience in a wide range of such schemes, from high-dependency/EMI and Dementia Care facilities to large-scale retirement village projects, predominantly but not confined to the South and Southwest of England.
