Stride Treglown to support Building Plymouth initiative

We are proud to announce that we are supporting Plymouth City Council’s ‘Building Plymouth’ partnership, alongside UK construction group Morgan Sindall.

The initiative aims to link local people with the high volume of jobs and career opportunities in the area, and to leverage greater investment in construction skills. It encourages companies to work together to overcome some of the challenges facing the construction and built environment sector.  The aim is to increase the local availability of skills, connect more people to employers, enhance the image of the sector, and to increase local awareness of careers in the construction and the built environment.

David Bayliss, Divisional Director Project Manager said:

“Stride Treglown are delighted to become one of the Sponsors of Building Plymouth so we can work with like-minded organisations to show case and encourage more people to join the Construction Industry. We are passionate about the built environment and we want to help others to show what a rewarding career it can provide across a very wide spectrum or roles within the construction consultancy disciplines.”

Council Leader Ian Bowyer said:

“We are very pleased to welcome both Morgan Sindall and Stride Treglown as new project sponsors for Building Plymouth.  The funding through this innovative partnership will enable us to get local people into jobs and apprenticeships; raise the awareness of the exciting and diverse career opportunities; and to help increase the local availability of construction skills so that Plymouth can fully exploit the opportunities ahead.”

Nigel Whelan, Area Manager Construction South said:

“Morgan Sindall are pleased to announce that they have recently become project sponsors of Building Plymouth, who are continuing their excellent work in getting local people connected with the construction industry, through schools, academies and local training providers. It is imperative that a close working relationship is forged with local sub-contractors to encourage their continued and co-ordinated involvement in local building schemes. We look forward to being a part of what we believe will be an invaluable asset to the construction industry in Plymouth.”
