Congratulations to Francesca Lewis on being named Constructing Excellence South West G4C Future Leader 2021.
The G4C award identifies future leaders who are having a positive impact on their peers, their organisation and the wider industry, against the G4C priority areas of people development, sustainability and innovation.
Francesca is a dedicated and driven architect working in our Specialist Living team, a sector she is truly passionate about.
Within Stride Treglown, Fran has taken on the role of team leader and is now working to ensure each of our nine offices has a Specialist Living design champion who understands the intricacies of designing for the elderly.
She believes Specialist Living should be viewed as an aspirational move and pushes her team to design homes that encourage independence, community and wellbeing – places we would all want to live.
To do this, Fran promotes a people-focused design approach and actively engages in Post-Occupancy Evaluation to listen and learn from the inhabitants of our buildings. Last year, as well as volunteering for Age UK, she revisited (virtually) residents of Bournville Gardens to understand how the design of our scheme impacted their daily lives.
She is keen to promote the importance of engaging with residents within the wider industry and outlined her findings in a HousingLIN blog, a specialist network which exemplifies innovative housing solutions for an ageing population.
On 7th October, Fran is speaking at Women in Property’s Age Inclusivity in the Built Environment event, an in-person panel discussion which will explore how older voices can be included in the design, development work and delivery of new housing, housing policy, and how that benefits all parties.
Age Inclusivity in the Built Environment takes place on 7th October 2021 in Bristol. Register here to attend.
