Christopher is an experienced architect with a strong track record in design development and project delivery across a number of specialist sectors.
Science, Defence and Transport buildings, with their unique and complex uses, often require a more considered, technical approach to design. Chris is adept at creating and delivering bespoke responses to challenging briefs.
Most recently he has developed the designs for the new Liverpool Cruise Terminal.
If you weren’t in this career, what would you be?
Before training as an architect, I studied Product Design and Engineering (Mechanical and Electrical). If I hadn’t switched direction, it’s likely I’d be developing new engineering technologies for industrial and consumer products.
Best networking event you’ve been to?
I’m not so focused on individual events, I’ve learnt that networking can happen anywhere and at any time!
Best building in your city?
Manchester has a wealth of historic industrial buildings and structures. If I am hosting new visitors, I like to take them on a walking tour around the Castlefield Basin area. The confluence of the canals and their infrastructure, the overlapping and parallel railway viaducts and the surrounding mills and warehouses make for quite a dramatic setting.
What’s the greatest invention ever?
It’s not an ‘invention’ exactly, but I would say the introduction of universal, compulsory public education.
What is your proudest moment?
Unexpectedly delivering my second daughter at home and managing to keep things together until after the birth when the ambulance arrived. Of course, my wife was absolutely amazing and I am much more proud of her!
