Based in our Plymouth studio, Keane designs and delivers challenging projects within the Healthcare sector.

He’s also a keen badminton player which, he says, helps to balance out his passion for food.

What’s your favourite project you’ve worked on to date?

Transforming the Emergency Department (ED) at the Royal Devon University Healthcare. The redesign provided much-needed increased capacity for the Resus department, along with a new Paediatric Assessment Unit (PAU). A key challenge was the complexity of project phasing which ensured that the live ED services were maintained 24/7.

What are the key challenges that affect the Healthcare sector, or are likely to in the next five years?

Since Covid-19, healthcare projects have seen more of an urgency to achieve completion on site. Managing the client’s expectations and shorter programmes has been challenging whilst maintaining the high standards that Stride Treglown provide and deliver.

What advice would you give your 20 year old self?

Best building in your city?

The Royal William Yard. Urban Splash has been regenerating the largest collection of Grade I Listed military buildings in Europe into mixed use buildings. It’s great to see buildings with such rich history being restored for various uses ranging from art studios, restaurants and apartments. The views out to sea aren’t too bad either!

What’s the greatest invention ever?
