Breathing new life into a prominent city centre building

Located on Marlborough Street in the heart of Bristol city centre, 360 Bristol (or South Plaza as it was formally known) is a 1980s office building arranged over eight floors and with an impressive full-height atrium.

Back in 2019, the building was dated, unwelcoming, and lacked modern services and amenities. Despite being mostly vacant, Angelo Gordon and Melburg Capital could see its potential and came to us to turn it around.

The brief

Their vision was to refurbish and rebrand the building – providing Grade A office accommodation and addressing accessibility issues and street presence – in a way that appealed to modern occupiers but was sympathetic to the building’s existing character.

Our solution

Externally, we reworked the building approach and entrance with light-touch but high-impact interventions. A new winding ramp with integrated steps, façade updates, and an enlarged copper-clad entrance lobby make this workplace accessible and vibrant.

Inside, the existing atrium has been remodelled and opened-up to provide an animated and inviting entrance to the building. A new copper-clad feature staircase, open-framed lifts, and sunken seating area are impressive focal points. Also on the ground floor, tenants now benefit from a communal café and business lounge.

The lower ground floor has been transformed to include direct ‘cycle in’ facilities, a fully serviced gym, showers, and changing/drying rooms.

On the upper floors, the reimagined open plan office spaces are light, bright and have a modern feel with exposed services and structural features like the concrete waffle slabs.

Completed in 2022, 360 Bristol now offers tenants a flexible, functional modern workspace with market-leading amenities and exceptional internet connectivity.
