Meeting the demands of Cardiff’s growing population
Cardiff Bay has been the focus of residential development for a period of over fifteen years. It has been transformed from derelict dockyards to a prosperous and diverse community by developments such as Celestia. This high-rise mixed-use residential development is no different, and includes 608 apartments, 151 of which are affordable housing.
There is also an element of retail and commercial accommodation fronting Pierhead Street, one of the main routes into the Cardiff Bay area. The site is surrounded on three sides by water, and includes a landscaped public piazza which opens onto Roath Basin. The architectural style of the buildings varies according to their position and height, giving a human scale to this large development and working with, instead of against, the surrounding cityscape.
