A high-quality learning environment at the heart of a new community.

Hampshire County Council is working in partnership with Wildern Academy Trust and the Education and Skills Funding Agency (EFSA) to provide a new seven-form entry secondary school as part of the Uplands Farm Estate development.

Initial feasibility work was carried out by Hampshire County Council Property Services who then appointed Kier Construction as their Design and Build Contractor. Stride Treglown was engaged by Kier to develop the design of the new school.

The new school consists of two buildings; the main school building (6573m²) and the sports hall building (1092m²). This will provide accommodation for 1050 pupils in total once the school is operating at full capacity.

The main building will be three storeys high and the sports hall building two storeys high. The three storey building includes a central library/learning resource centre, ICT rich classrooms, science labs, art rooms, design and technology facilities and a music and drama department. The building will provide a high quality modern learning environment as well as being highly energy efficient.

Several of the new facilities have the potential to be made available for out-of-hours use by local groups, teams and sports organisations.

The school site masterplan has made provision for the potential expansion of the school by a further two forms of entry in the future, if the demand for pupil places in the area show this to be required. This would be subject to further public consultation and a new planning application at that time.
