Breaking new ground for Hampton by Hilton

Planning Consent is being sought for a 190 bed, budget hotel and associated communal spaces located in Trafford, Manchester.

This project broke new ground for a Hampton by Hilton hotel. Not only is this a budget hotel located within a 17 storey tower, but it’s located on a nationally significant processional route between Manchester United Football Club’s stadium and Lancashire County Cricket Club’s ground.

Gaining planning support for this hotel has been a challenge. In the last three years, a number of scheme designs have been developed and discarded. The Council’s aspirations for a high-quality signature building on this corner site were at odds with what the hotel market dictated; that this location could only support a focused service hotel. To add to this disconnect, the hotel abuts a residential street with only two storey houses.

 

The project structure is proposed to be constructed traditionally because of the plan form, although façade elements are proposed to be offsite fabrications.

The tower will be fully sprinklered to meet the hotel brand constraints, whilst Design For Security consultation will be a key requirement of the Council.
