Working in collaboration with Stride Treglown’s architects and building surveyors, as well as our in-house interiors team, the graphics team was asked to create an exciting and original brand identity to appeal to students and staff around the campus.
The larger project involved a refurbishment and new build programme for Windsor and London Road halls and catering areas at University of Reading. In keeping with the university’s existing branding, we designed an irregular shape, devised from a square, that contains the lowercase prefix of the zone ie. ‘park’ or ‘london road’ and aligns with the lowercase suffix that describes the building or activity ie. ‘eat’ or ‘eat & drink’ within the zone.
Within the catering areas, a sub brand ‘eat’ follows the same thinking – showing the activity first followed by the food offer ie. ‘eat deli’ or ‘eat hot’. The new brand identity was applied to exterior and interior location signs, installed mainly as large Dibond signs in solid colour, stainless steel effect signs or solid and frosted vinyl on glazing and interior wall surfaces.
