The Background

We had outgrown our own home, and were faced with two options. Fly the nest, or take on the challenge of refurbishing our Grade II* listed office to fit, and please, a growing staff list.

A staff list of architects and designers.

We chose the latter.

The Solution

Step 1. Pick a team

Take one interior designer to lead the project, with the chairman as client. Use the Office and Workplace team as a sounding board, and the Building Surveying team to make sure the building’s ship shape.

Step 2. Design Solution

Change our approach to working and go agile. No more desk ownership, more breakout spaces, more opportunity to work from home or on the go.

Start designing a concept. ‘Heritage meets simplicity’. Simple architecture studio with bright light, bespoke ply finishes and an outstanding new reception space. Show off the building’s unique features.

Step 3. Start Refurbing

We decided to stay in the office while the work is done, so we created a phased solution.
