Sarah Lee and Nick Morris named joint Chair of RIBA Plymouth

Sarah Lee, Senior Architect, and Nick Morris, Associate, have recently accepted the joint role of Chair of the Plymouth branch of the RIBA for the next two years.

The Plymouth branch covers South West Devon up to Okehampton and across to Totnes, with some 250 members to represent. It provides a great opportunity for Stride Treglown to support its professional body and to foster closer relationships within the city, especially between the education and construction sectors.

The pair attended their first official appointments in their new role at a private dinner with Sir Peter Cook RA, who recently presented the annual SW region lecture at Plymouth University.

Alan provided a great opportunity to hear what he thinks of the organisation as a relative newcomer and his plans for the future of the RIBA, its membership, and his thoughts on plans for Plymouth as a whole, including the upcoming Mayflower 400 celebrations in 2020. The Head of Planning and the Deputy Leader were also present.

Sarah commented:

“There are many construction groups within the South West and Plymouth in particular that arrange events and meetings so it will be essential to provide joined-up thinking and improved communications between all to improve representation and involvement by more members in the area.

It will also be an interesting opportunity for us to find out more about what the RIBA does both nationally and regionally, and how we can demonstrate ‘value for money’ to encourage more architects to become members and get involved!”
