Stride Treglown Cardiff wins Wales Architectural Firm of the Year

We’re very proud to have won Best Architectural Firm at the 2019 Insider Wales Property Awards.

It’s an honour to be selected from such a strong shortlist. We were particularly pleased that this year’s judges picked up on our commitment to creative re-use, and raising the quality of local environments.

Pierre Wassenaar and Anthony Walsh collected the award at the buzzing evening in Cardiff City Hall. Immediately after the win, Pierre commented:

For me this award is a reflection of the culture that everyone in the Cardiff office has built over the last few years.  I couldn’t be prouder of how the team has evolved as a unit, and developed strategies to support each other both technically and at a personal level. This is for them.

We’ve had an office in Wales for 23 years, and have grown to be one of the largest practices in the country. The Cardiff-based team has been responsible for a series of notable projects with particular strengths in schools, higher education, housing and health. In 2017 they won the National Eisteddfod of Wales Gold Medal for Architecture for Ysgol Bae Baglan, and their self-build home, Treglown Court, was the first office building in the UK to achieve BREEAM “Outstanding” at design stage.

Looking ahead, Regional Director Simon Trew said

We have a talented and creative team in Cardiff and it’s great to see their hard work recognised. We’re thrilled with the award and look forward to building on our success with all the great new design work we have on the drawing board.
