What’s your favourite project you’ve worked on to date?
Rushden Lakes retail and leisure complex in Northamptonshire. It’s a first of its kind destination with a unique mix of shopping, nature trails, dining and canoeing on the edge of a Site of Special Scientific Interest in the Nene Valley. It was a long time in the making and I had three children during the time I worked on the project from inception to completion.
Best building in your city?
Living in Winchester there are rich pickings. It’s hard to look beyond the cathedral and the Winchester College buildings. It’s like stepping back in time.
Best book you’ve read?
Touching the Void by Joe Simpson is a great story of survival in the face of adversity. History of Architecture by Bannister Fletcher. This is compulsory reading at architecture college and has a wealth of information for budding architects.
What’s the greatest invention ever?
It’s a common theme at Stride Treglown, but the bike gets my vote. Always my preferred method of getting around, on or off road via my ever increasing stable of steeds.
Interesting fact that nobody knows about you?
I’m a lifelong Grimsby Town fan. I spent my formative years in the Findus Stand cheering on the Mighty Mariners…”We only sing when we’re fishing!”
What is your proudest moment?
Got to say it…becoming a dad to my three amazing kids.
