Our expanding Technology and Innovation sector is meeting the growing UK and worldwide investment in emerging technologies, materials, specialist production and R&D. We have delivered across the spectrum of intellectual endeavour, from innovation hubs to technology parks, from research laboratories to manufacturing facilities.

Our projects support the entire Technology Readiness Level spectrum, from research and incubation through to applied R&D, and manufacturing.

We have delivered projects in most sectors, including Aerospace, Automotive, Energy, ICT, Advanced Research, Pharmaceutical, Chemical and Data Centres.

We have a strong pedigree in university research buildings and spaces for start-ups and creative business development.

We are particularly focused on the sustainable criteria of our projects, and work with our BREEAM Advisors to drive excellence in this area. This translates into lower energy and maintenance costs and is evidenced by the delivery of two BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ projects in the Sector:  the Environmental Sustainability Institute for Exeter University, and the Energy Safety Research Institute for Swansea University.

We have considerable expertise in designing high performance applied R&D buildings to technically demanding briefs.

We have the skills to understand complex processes and accommodate them efficiently, while incorporating flexibility to meet inevitable future change. We have developed particular expertise in Cleantech engineering, Nanotech, CDP Level 2 Biosciences research, and Composites technology.

Some of our most exciting projects in this area are multi-agency collaborations between Government, education and industry: sectors where we already have great strengths.  The National Composites Centre, for example, brings together the University of Bristol, the UK Government, and the South West Regional Development Authority in a collaboration with industry players such as Airbus, GKN Aerospace and Rolls Royce.

Applied Research and Development Projects

We have extensive experience of delivering high quality, efficient industrial buildings.

These respond to our clients’ specific requirements, ranging from simple storage facilities to buildings that accommodate complex manufacturing processes.
