Catherine specialises in landscape design, with experience working on projects across a wide range of development sectors.
She is a Senior Landscape Architect working from the Bath office, and a qualified Building with Nature (BwN) Assessor.
Why is being a Building with Nature assessor important to you?
The rigorous training undertaken to become an assessor helps me frame and communicate what we do instinctively as Landscape Architects. Whilst not every scheme can achieve BwN accreditation, it’s important to me that all our clients understand the value of green and blue infrastructure for the benefit of people and nature, and are encouraged to aim as high as possible on their projects.
What’s your favourite project you’ve worked on to date?
Any project where I’ve successfully persuaded a client of the additional value that having quality landscape features and planting will bring to both the design outcome and the people who will use the spaces.
Pet hate?
When opportunities are missed and lost due to value engineering.
What are the key challenges that affect your sector, or are likely to in the next five years?
Rising to meet and exceeding Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) targets on our schemes is a design challenge we face across every sector. The landscapes we develop need to incorporate lots of biodiverse habitat for nature recovery, provide meaningful places for people, and look fantastic all year-round!
