Sam has been with Stride Treglown for over seventeen years, starting as a junior and progressing to his current role as Finance Manager. He works closely with our Finance Director, individual budget holders, and people across the business to review our monthly accounts and ensure we stay on track financially.
If you weren’t in this career, what would you be?
Something in sports. Probably in a coaching role or working in data analysis.
What advice would you give your 20 year old self?
Enjoy yourself. Go see the world and take risks. Also buy shares in Google and don’t get on an E-scooter at 35 years old or you will find out a lot about knee surgery.
Best networking event you’ve been to?
I often take part in sports networking events. My favourite would be the tag rugby event hosted by the Bristol Bears. We got to change in the players’ changing room and visit the presentation area for the awards at the end. As a rugby fan this was very special for me.
Best building in your city?
Ashton Gate. It’s the home of football and rugby in Bristol.
What is your proudest moment?
I joined Stride Treglown on a four-week temporary agency contact back in 2006 to cover the gap between a leaver and a new starter. Seventeen years later, I am still here! I’m proud that I have progressed from a temporary finance junior to Finance Manager. I have made some great friends along the way, learnt a lot, and am now passing on my knowledge.
