Part of the South 2 Priority School Building Programme batch

We worked with Kier to design and deliver two secondary schools as part of the South 2 Priority School Building Programme batch. Building on our experience of other Priority school projects, we have developed solutions for each site which allow the replacement of the majority of the existing buildings whilst the school remains in operation.

Castle View Academy is a mixed secondary foundation school with a capacity of 1000 pupils. The design approach has been taken to provide an outward statement of investment in the local community, and raise aspirations to support the track record of continuous improvement at the school.

The size of the site is considerable and careful consideration was given to the location of the new building, and the ability to build on the site whilst maintaining the existing school use.

The new school is on three levels with a lower ground floor consisting of primarily the sports hall and changing rooms. The removal of the old school buildings provided the opportunity to create more accessible grass areas for sports use.
