Our recent refurbishments of North Quay House and Coal House are shortlisted for the British Council for Offices Awards 2024. Calon has also been shortlisted in the Corporate Workplace category.
North Quay House
Bristol’s North Quay House (pictured above) forms phase one of our Quayside redevelopment for Legal and General Investment Management, where we’re transforming three dated waterfront offices into an urban campus that focuses on occupant wellbeing. A series of considered interventions combine to provide major upgrades to North Quay House’s aesthetics, envelope performance, and interior spaces. The project was pre-let in its entirety to UK Government.
Coal House
The retrofit of Coal House turns a once stale office building into one of Wales’ most sustainable workplaces, achieving the highest benchmarks for energy efficiency, environmental impact, and occupant wellbeing. The building is 100% powered by renewable energy, with a bold new brand identity and a remodelled, boutique hotel style interior.
Calon
Calon at the Interchange is a 120,000 square foot office space that has become Legal & General’s headquarters in Wales. It is the crescendo of the company’s £1bn investment in Cardiff and a £475m investment into the regeneration of Cardiff’s Central Square. We acted as briefing consultants to bridge the gap between the speculative Cat A and the occupier’s fit out requirements. The project was delivered by ISG, Holder Mathias Architects, and Cast Interiors.
A benchmark for excellence in office space
One of the BCO’s primary goals is to define excellence in office space. Their annual awards programme provides public recognition for quality design and functionality, and a benchmark for excellence in workplaces.
