We’re shortlisted for four Education Estates awards

17th September 2020

University of Reading Library

The University of Reading Library has been shortlisted for two awards – Refurbishment of the Year and Pupil/Student Experience.

The £40m library refurbishment has resulted in a sustainable, contemporary, inclusive and legible building which supports a hive of activity 24 hours a day. The reconfigured layout simplifies the journeys of books, greatly improves the flow of people throughout the building and provides a huge variety of private and collaborative spaces for learning, teaching and study.

The interventions will ensure that the library continues to play an essential role in the lives of thousands of students and staff for the next 30 years.

SA1 Waterfront Innovation Quarter

Phase 1 of University of Wales Trinity Saint David’s Waterfront Innovation Quarter is shortlisted for the Inspiring Learning Spaces award.

The £400m mixed use regeneration programme at SA1, Swansea consists of IQ, a new faculty building comprising Applied Computing, Automotive Engineering, Architecture, Built and Natural Environments and Engineering, Manufacturing and Logistics; a new campus library, together with the Construction Wales Innovation Centre.

The University and design teams have created an environment that breaks down educational silos and creates a new ecology of learning where students understand the space between the disciplines and leave with hands-on skills.

Croesyceiliog School

Going head to head with the Waterfront Innovation Quarter in the Inspiring Learning Spaces category is Croesyceiliog School – a £30m school for 1,200 pupils aged 11-16.

Croesyceiliog represents Torfaen County Borough Council’s biggest single investment to date in the 21st Century Schools programme. Replacing failing existing infrastructure, the impressive new facility has had a transformative impact on pupils and teachers and has been the catalyst for re-imagining curriculum delivery across its innovative and flexible learning spaces.

We look forward to celebrating excellence and achievement in education at the digital awards ceremony on Thursday 15 October 2020.
