We’re offering a unique opportunity to join our growing operations team in a newly created role focused on internal project management, you will join our central operations team at Stride Treglown, a progressive and supportive employer with a triple bottom line? Senior Architect

We are looking for an experienced job running Senior Architect who understands the complexities of delivering large-scale projects and wants to focus on improving internal processes and programme management.

You will work closely with project teams—initially on a major healthcare project—to manage change control, internal programme coordination, and delivery packages. You’ll also support contract programme amendments in collaboration with contractors, clients, and consultants.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys robust conversations, strategic thinking, and improving how projects are delivered from the inside out.

You can be based in our Plymouth, Bristol, or Cardiff office—with a willingness to spend time regularly in our Plymouth office.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the internal change control process on large projects
  • Provide the team with guidance and direction to ensure that agreed services, deliverables and duties are met and instigate the change procedure where are additional services are being requested.
  • Manage the appointment, delivery and change process with regards directly appointed consultants. Co-ordinating the multidisciplinary team to ensure efficient communication and delivery, whilst ensuring the highest quality standards are achieved.
  • Coordinate internal programme and delivery packages across teams and sectors
  • Support project teams in managing NEC contract processes and programme amendments
  • Manage risk, raising early warnings and change events notifications as required. Anticipate challenges and possible issues and ensure the team take appropriate steps to minimise risk and achieve the best outcome.
  • Facilitate communication between contractors, clients, project managers, and consultants
  • Attend key meetings and contribute to strategic project decisions
  • Work closely with the operations team to embed best practice across studios

You will have

  • Significant architectural experience, across a variety of projects and sectors ideally with healthcare sector exposure
  • Strong understanding of NEC contracts and contract programme management
  • Strong design leadership across all RIBA stages, including concept development, technical delivery and site coordination.
  • A proven track record of delivering complex, high-value projects on time and within budget.
  • A desire to create and deliver great buildings
  • Professional experience working in a high-quality, design and delivery focused practice
  • A keen interest in large scale architectural projects, while able to manage smaller/ multiple projects alongside
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with an ability to build rapport, create positive relationships and work effectively with others
  • A collaborative mindset and ability to work across teams and disciplines
  • A strategic approach to problem-solving and process improvement
  • Willingness to work regularly from our Plymouth Studio and attend project meetings as required

Desirable skills

  • Experience in healthcare design and delivery
  • Familiarity with MMC and BIM workflows
  • Experience in coordinating large consultant teams
  • Interest in long-term operational strategy and internal project management
  • Experience of having carried out a lead role on projects with a value of between £20m and £100m
