If you weren’t in this career, what would you be?
Something that involves physically making things. I was extremely lucky to grow up with parents who are always making furniture for the house or fixing vintage vehicles. I love trying out new crafts and, during the first lockdown, I started creating abstract art pieces – and even sold a few.
What is your favourite project you’ve worked on to date?
It’s hard to choose a favourite but the most challenging and rewarding must have been St. Joseph’s Hospital’s ward refurbishment in Newport. Our brief was to form a design that would provide patients with a high-end recovery experience whilst still meeting all clinical requirements. It was a tight programme, so it was incredibly rewarding to see a project go from concept to completion within months.
Best book you’ve read?
A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini. I’m also a massive Harry Potter nerd.
Best networking event you’ve been to?
It was a macrame plant hanger workshop collaboration event between Camira Fabrics, Boss Design and a local craftsperson. Any event with pizza, wine and a crafty activity is a winner for me!
Pet hate?
Baked Beans!
