Jessica loves the healthcare sector and she’s been a member of our healthcare team for over 14 years.
As her interest in Mental Health architecture has developed over the past few years, she aims to incorporate her learnings in all her projects to improve patient experience for all.
What’s your favourite project you’ve worked on to date?
I think your first project will always hold a special place in your heart. My first project (when I qualified many, many years ago) was the Haematology, Oncology and Women’s Health Centre, aka the Jigsaw Building, in Bournemouth. Another more recent favourite is the Dan y Deri Learning Disability Mental Health facility in Swansea.
What are the key challenges that affect your sector?
More design for less money!
What are you proud of achieving recently?
I’ve enjoyed attending more conferences and learning from others. I’m even speaking at the national IHEEAM Healthcare conference in Manchester this year on the topic of Design in the Learning Disability Mental Healthcare sector.
What’s the greatest invention ever?
Pens and paper! I love nothing more than sketching with actual pens, whether that’s healthcare buildings or just doodling.
If you weren’t in this career, what would you be?
A paramedic (so it’s kinda cool that I work in healthcare!)
