What’s your favourite project you’ve worked on to date?

It would have to be the General Intensive Care Unit at Southampton University Hospital. It was my first healthcare project. Delivery and extension to the existing GICU service happened to fall during the COVID pandemic, but seeing the nursing team’s reaction at project handover and what it meant to them cemented my love for delivering healthcare projects.

What is your proudest moment?

Graduating from university and seeing the look of pride on my parents and grandparents faces. There were times when it felt unachievable, but they kept me going and to share that moment with them was a memory I will treasure forever.

If you weren’t in this career, what would you be?

I always fancied being a detective. Always loved TV crime drama (growing up in Midsomer Murders country) and true crime podcasts. And I’ll be honest — I’m nosey!

Best book you’ve read?

‘This Is Going to Hurt’ by Adam Kay. A great insight into the life of a Junior Doctor, through his diaries from that time. Funny, heartwarming and heartbreaking. All the emotions!

What advice would you give your 20 year old self?

It’s okay not to be okay. Speak up. Tell someone.

What is the current big trend in your sector?

There is a big drive for MMC within the healthcare sector and how it can reduce programmes and increase clinical capacity in a small space of time. The challenge is time vs cost vs quality. They can’t all win the battle…or can they?
