The redevelopment of a station complex to the highest accessible standards

Stride Treglown’s role involved a three stage master plan and scheme design for the redevelopment of the existing station complex. From the original brief, we aimed to provide a safe level of access for passengers and enhance the existing building. The overall scheme was developed for a new building and bridge.

The new station has been designed to Railtrack’s highest accessible standards. These relate to

  • Design and gradient of stairs
  • Visual contrast between handrails and walls
  • Trip hazards
  • Lift design
