The redevelopment of a station complex to the highest disabled standards

Stride Treglown’s role involved a three stage master plan and scheme design for the redevelopment of the existing station complex. From the original brief, we aimed to provide safe level access for disabled passengers and enhance the existing building. The overall scheme was developed for a new building and bridge.

The new station has been designed to Railtrack’s highest disabled standards. These relate to

  • Design and gradient of stairs
  • Visual contrast between handrails and walls
  • Trip hazards
  • Lift design
