New sustainable store as part of the Weymouth Gateway Development
This 40,000 sqft store forms part of the new Weymouth Gateway Development, a masterplan including a hotel, family restaurant and office space for the clothing retailer New Look. The store’s unique design includes a dramatic roofscape, and uses locally sourced materials to realize a striking and contemporary building.
The building utilizes pioneering new sustainable technologies and construction techniques to reduce its carbon footprint, including a hybrid Glulam and steel frame, a highly insulating timber roof and a biogas generator providing 100% of the heat and electricity required for the building.
The design was developed using a BIM methodology, allowing for close collaboration between the architect, contractor and the specialist consultant team. Through this process, the building was delivered within a very tight 5½ month build program.
