Three large grade II listed Victorian villas located within the Tyndalls Park conservation area

The University of Bristol appointed Stride Treglown as lead design consultant for the high refurbishment of the buildings to provide a mix of study space and academic offices for the University’s School of Economics, Finance and Management.

The refurbishment scheme was designed to achieve a BREEAM ‘very good’ rating and also appropriately reflect the listed/heritage status of the buildings, whilst also improving the internal and external accessibility.

Sensitive alterations and repairs to the historic fabric were undertaken together with a variety of thermal improvements, new decorations, finishes, and fittings. All mechanical and electrical services were also replaced and a new BMS system was introduced.   The scheme also incorporated new external landscaping where the opportunity was taken to maximise on-site parking and cycling facilities.

Stride Treglown, together with the services consultant and structural engineer were novated to the main contractor post tender with Stride Treglown Management also providing post tender project management services.
