Luxury Integrated Retirement Community at the heart of a hospital regeneration masterplan.

This scheme, originally designed by Stride Treglown for C Squared Property Development, forms part of the St Peter’s Hospital Masterplan near Chertsey; a large-scale regeneration project which includes additions to the hospital, new keyworker housing, a residential development, and this retirement community.

The main challenge of this design was integrating it into the masterplan in a seamless and elegant way, working with the landscape strategy and linkages set up by the building’s neighbours, while still creating a distinctive scheme that responds to the constraints of the site and meets the needs of the end user.

The scheme comprises 116 separate 1-3 bedroom apartments, and is conceived as a series of short wings connected by a central spine.

The wings frame a number of landscaped courtyards, each with their own character and style. Some of these courtyards will be vibrant and active. Others will be quiet and intimate. This gives residents a choice of outlooks for their apartments and a variety of outdoor amenity spaces to enjoy.

Internally, the building provides extensive communal facilities, including restaurants, lounges, activity rooms, and a publicly accessible café. These spaces are designed to promote interaction between residents within the community, visitors to it, and also residents of the neighbouring residential development.

The scheme will be an engaging place to live that can provide support and care as appropriate, while still encouraging residents to lead a vibrant, independent lifestyle.
