A collaborative hub for digital innovation in Swansea’s SA1 Quarter.

The Innovation Matrix is a new collaboration hub for digital innovation in the heart of Swansea’s SA1 Innovation Quarter.

It offers a unique opportunity to connect businesses through co-location and partnership with the University of Wales Trinity Saint David. Its vibrant community of start-ups, businesses and researchers have access to cutting-edge facilities located in adjacent campus buildings to help accelerate new product development and grow fledgling enterprises.

Tenant units are arranged around a shared, centrally heated street providing informal places to meet and catch-up. More formal bookable spaces are located in the centre of the street along with shared break-out seating areas. The street provides access to the individual office units, a dedicated meeting room, an incubation suite as well as the Innovation Matrix Partnership office and reception.

The building achieves an EPC rating of A and a BREEAM rating of Excellent. The landlord areas are designed to be net zero carbon in operation using energy generated by the roof top array of photovoltaic panels.

The building is highly insulated with mechanical ventilation with heat recovery to keep energy loads to a minimum. In the summer months, offices can make use of natural ventilation to remain temperate and comfortable for building users.

The project was the result of a strategic partnership between the university and the Swansea Bay City Deal, a £1.3 billion investment portfolio of major programmes and projects across the Swansea Bay City Region.
