Hay Common, Launceston
Caledonian Modular for The DfE

A two storey modular primary school

A new primary school with capacity for 420 pupils on a greenfield site in Hay Common, Launceston.

The vision for the site was to create a ‘woodland school’ with both internal and external teaching environments.

The new school will be a two storey modular construction of more than 2,000m² that comprises teaching accommodation, including a main entrance, reception, hall/dining area, kitchen, staff and administration area, two Reception classrooms, four infant classrooms and eight junior classrooms.

There will also be additional space for group rooms, a library, SEN studio and a food and science room.

The main hall and studio will be available for community use.

The building will be surrounded by landscaped grounds, with associated parking, sports field and Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) included.

Special attention has been given to acoustics, natural lighting and ventilation. The building will include a highly insulated thermal envelope.

We are appointed as architect and landscape architect.
