Urban chic with an Arabesque twist; interior design for six new cosmopolitan hotels, including the award winning Rove Downtown in Dubai

Rove Hotels

Rove Hotels is a new brand of mid-market lifestyle hotel by Emaar Hospitality Group, for the joint venture of Emaar Properties and Meraas Holding, developed to support Dubai’s Tourism Vision 2020 and World Expo 2020.

We have developed a contemporary urban interior that incorporates Arabesque elements for the bedrooms and public areas for the first six hotels at Za’abeel, Al Wasl, Port Saeed, Al Jafiliya, Oud Metha and Dubai Marina.

Designs for the 250 – 420 key hotels have been developed in response to Emaar’s brief that the hotels should draw inspiration from Dubai’s heritage and its remarkable leaps of achievement – modern, cosmopolitan, smart and cultural.

Rove Downtown Dubai

The first property to open is the 420 room Rove Downtown Dubai, which has already won the 2016 CID ‘Interior Design of the Year: Hotels’ award.

Exemplifying all the core values that Rove Hotels will bring to Dubai, the hotel has been described by Harpers Bazaar as “an artsy boutique hotel that mixes comfortable living with eclectic works of art”.

Located 20 minutes from Dubai International Airport and next to Downtown Dubai (the world’s most-visited lifestyle destination), Rove Downtown Dubai celebrates the vibrancy of modern Dubai, with a unique approach to delivering high quality hospitality experiences that transcend typical value hotel norms.

The hotel showcases works from several artists, such as Alia Al Shamsi and Nasser Al Zayani and has an inflatable toy installation in the luggage room, with hanging blown up animal toys sourced from local bagalas, the small stores which align Jumeirah Beach Road. The Daily Restaurant concept was designed in collaboration with FGStijl.

Emaar says it hopes to appeal to the “modern traveller who explores without borders”, with a self-check-in option and 2pm check-outs, and each room coming equipped with a smart media hub, complete with 48-inch interactive TV.

Guests can also manage their stay using a dedicated phone app and are provided with free wifi throughout, making it easy to upload their travel photos to help socially promote the hotel, who regularly set up new social media hashtags.

The opening of the first Rove hotel in downtown Dubai is a proud moment for us all. It is a new breed of millennial hotel, and the first of six that we have designed with Emaar Hospitality. We designed the interior to reflect the eclectic mix of urban chic and Arabic Heritage which is synonymous with Dubai.
