On 7th March, ten volunteers from our London, Bath and Bristol studios took part in LandAid’s 2024 SleepOut.
Sophie Jarzebowski, Laura Cassullo, Rob Delius, Ryan Walsh, Callum Swift, Angharad Matthews, Mark Rees, Josh Blackledge, Anna Sepilova and Karla Bonner spent one night outside to help prevent young people from facing the same prospect, every night.
Last year, nearly 136,000 young people were homeless or at risk of homelessness in the UK.
The team were able to raise over £3000, with all money raised going to projects which will help #EndYouthHomelessness across the UK.
A huge thank you for your support.
There was a great sense of togetherness of everyone taking part and why we were doing it. The speech by the local homeless coordinator was excellent and really brought home the crisis with some shocking statistics, with the cost of living being the main cause of homelessness.
The night was cold. Really cold. I can’t imagine doing that night after night on the streets, without a tent. Really pleased to be able to support by doing a very small thing like this and I greatly appreciate everyone who has sponsored us.”
– Robert Delius
The night highlighted the difficulties of sleeping on the streets. As well as the cold, the noise, lights and general feeling of unease made it difficult to stay asleep. Dom from 1625 Independent People delivered a fantastic speech highlighting some statistics around the UK’s youth homelessness crisis, which was a great reminder as to why we were there. The whole night had a feeling of morale and hope knowing that our fundraising efforts will be used to make a positive social impact.”
– Angharad Mathews
It was a real eye-opener into realities that we don’t get to see in our busy lives or we often tend to ignore, so it was important to take part and raise awareness. We all are coming back to our warm houses, beds and showers, so its important to carry on raising awareness on this and continue to support this cause.”
