The campus as a stage: A new vision for The BRIT School

Since opening in 1991, The BRIT School has shaped arts and culture around the globe. Home to Adele, Amy Winehouse, Tom Holland, Olivia Dean, RAYE, and many more—its alumni have graced stage and screen worldwide.
Walk around the campus in London’s eclectic Croydon, and it’s easy to see why—the school’s diverse, multi-talented students launching into impromptu performance wherever you look.
Our new strategic masterplan will focus on restoring the school’s ageing estate so its existing buildings and outdoor spaces can help that energy to flourish, and better support creative expression in all its forms.
“Stride Treglown and the wider team’s understanding of our ambitions and commitment to collaboration strongly aligned with our values … We can’t wait to get started creating a vision for the next 20 years and beyond.”
Louise Cooper, COO of The BRIT School
Change designed in symphony
We’ll be leading a team of partners to help the school’s infrastructure catch up to its creative legacy. This includes recent collaborators Hemingway Design, Croydon-based landscape architects Untitled Practice, cost consultant Gleeds, and Civic Engineers.
But that collaborative approach isn’t limited to the partners we’ve chosen. Our proposed co-design programme invites students, staff, and the wider school community to shape the future vision—a campus truly in service of those who call it home.
So far, our initial exploration has looked to improve connections across the campus and into Croydon’s wider community, as well as creating more opportunities for play and performance in the school’s everyday third spaces.
The project will also support The BRIT School‘s future fundraising ambitions, helping establish a strategic framework for long-term investment across the estate.
“What excited us most was the opportunity to think beyond individual buildings to develop a long-term vision for how the campus can evolve. It’s about listening to what students and staff need from their environment and creating a framework that reflects the culture, ambition, and creativity that makes The BRIT School so special.”
