Here’s to another great year!

19th December 2019

As the new year (and new decade!) draws closer, we’ve taken some time to reflect on 2019. Here are just some of our highlights…

Take me down to Gingerbread City…

The Museum of Architecture is currently exhibiting the most scrumptious Gingerbread City yet, and we’re providing the sugar power! Have a taster of our showstopping bake, Buttersea Power Station, lovingly made by our London studio.

Re-imagining Letchworth

We were one of four practices selected from 95 international entries to develop our ideas for the urban expansion of Letchworth Garden City. It took all we’d achieved with Shaping Future Places to the next level. We called our re-imagining Gardenia. Let us show you around…

And the award goes to…

We’ve been fortunate to make the shortlist for 48 awards this year, winning 18 in total including two ‘Best Architectural Practice’ gongs. Special mention to The Dunes, Paintworks, The Beatrice Shilling Building, SA1 Waterfront Innovation Quarter and our own Bristol home, Promenade House.

Our people

They make us who we are. We’re delighted to welcome Tristan Rhodes and Rachel Bell to the board of directors in the new year. There were also key appointments in our Bristol and Winchester offices. Earlier this year, we proudly supported our 8 finalists at the European Women in Construction & Engineering Awards – and celebrated wins for Miranda McCabe and Karyn Williams.

A social (media) experiment

Our London studio teamed up with BAM, Taylor Maxwell, Robert Bird Group, Rothoblaas, Huxlo and Marazzi UK to construct The Redivider, an immersive pavilion for London Festival of Architecture. Could a piece of architecture translate our digital encounters into real world experiences? We went looking for real likes and shares…

Voyage of discovery

We spoke to many inhabitants this year, but a standout project for us involved scientists, artists, crafters, photographers and researchers, all in one place. Together, they care for the world’s largest maritime collection. We designed the building, but they’re the true judges of how good it is. Hear what they have to say

The gift that keeps on giving

52 Ideas for Bristol, Inhabitant 1 & 2, 10 Essays to Shape Future Places and more. All available to download on our website. All completely free. You’re welcome.

And finally…

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from everyone at Stride Treglown.
